Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
Plain-English terms describing how MapTogether actually works today. If you're relying on this for a specific legal dispute or jurisdiction's requirements, have a lawyer review it first.
1. The service
MapTogether is a group-travel planning app: itinerary planning, expense splitting, a shared map with live location and GPS-tracked walks, a photo diary/scrapbook, and an AI trip assistant, published by the MapTogether team. Creating and joining trips, expense splitting, unlimited photos, the plan, the map, shared lists/polls, and the diary editor are always free — see our Privacy Policy for what data each feature uses.
2. Accounts
You can sign up with Sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use MapTogether.
3. Trip content and conduct
You keep ownership of the content you add (photos, notes, expenses, diary entries). By adding it to a shared trip, you're giving the other people you invite permission to view, and where the feature allows it, edit that content. Don't upload anything illegal, infringing, or abusive — we can remove content or suspend accounts that violate this.
4. MapTogether Plus (subscription)
MapTogether Plus is an optional, auto-renewing subscription purchased through the App Store and managed via your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). When one person in a group subscribes, the whole group unlocks offline mode, full-resolution photos, a watermark-free highlight reel, and PDF diary export. Pricing is shown in the App Store listing before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; refunds are handled by Apple under its standard policies, not by us directly.
5. Live location and GPS tracking
Location sharing and walk tracking are opt-in per trip and per walk — see the Privacy Policy for exactly how they work. You're responsible for only sharing your location with people you trust.
6. Third-party services
MapTogether relies on third-party infrastructure — Firebase, Cloudinary, PostHog, RevenueCat, Apple, and Google — to operate. Their own terms and privacy practices apply to the parts of the service they handle.
7. Disclaimers and liability
MapTogether is provided "as is." We work to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we're not liable for travel decisions you make based on information in the app (including AI suggestions, weather, or flight status data). Expense-splitting calculations are a convenience — you're responsible for verifying amounts before settling up.
8. Changes
We may update these terms as the app changes; significant changes will be reflected here and, where material, in the app.
